Spring has finally arrived and waterfowl are on the move. Can warblers be far behind? It's time to register for our annual state birding convention!
The 80th annual WSO convention is set for May 24-27 in the greater Eau Claire area. Join us for a fun-filled birding weekend. Catch up on old friendships, and create new ones with your fellow bird enthusiasts. Pre-registration closes on April 30, so don't delay!
Field trips will explore the local region on Saturday morning and Sunday. Destinations include Tiffany Bottoms Wildlife Area, Dunnville Wildlife Area, Augusta State Wildlife Area, Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge, and Beaver Creek Reserve.
Five additional field trip options are set for Monday morning, with most heading in a homeward direction. These will visit the Mead Wildlife Area/Big Eau Pleine Reservoir, Sandhill Wildlife Area/Buena Vista Grasslands, Sauk Prairie Recreation Area/Baxter's Hollow, Quincy Bluff and Wetlands State Natural Area, and Crex Meadows Wildlife Area.
The convention weekend also includes a Friday grill-out picnic, the annual Passenger Pigeon awards program, a Saturday luncheon, the WSO annual business meeting, a presentations session, an evening banquet with keynote address, and a Birds and Beers get-together on Sunday evening.
