Bird City Wisconsin is a huge fan of International Migratory Bird Day (IMBD). So big, in fact, that the only required actions on Bird City's application are that every community hold an annual IMBD event and pass an official resolution recognizing IMBD and the importance of birds. (You can download sample resolutions on our site: Word / pdf).
According to IMBD's site:
International Migratory Bird Day, coordinated by Environment for the Americas, celebrates and brings attention to one of the most important and spectacular events in the Americas - bird migration. IMBD is celebrated in Canada, the United States, Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean at protected areas, refuges, parks, museums, schools, zoos, and more. More than 600 events and programs hosted annually introduce the public to migratory birds and ways to conserve them.
Each year's IMBD theme is different, in 2017 it was "Helping Birds along the Way". Environment for the Americas (EFTA) works with incredible artists, Rocío Landívar created the 2017 poster to the right, to design captivating artwork to illustrate each year's theme. EFTA also provides a wealth of educational and promotional materials and even mini-grants for communities planning an event.
